Turneffe Island Lodge
Turneffe Island Lodge is nestled on scenic Cay Bokel, a private 12-acre island with white sand beaches and a sense of serenity seldom found in today's hectic world. The unique location of the lodge provides quick and easy access to the coral reefs, flats and open ocean.
The remote location and restricted capacity ensures excellent opportunities for fly anglers. Miles of wadable flats close to Turneffe Island Lodge offer angling for schools of bonefish which average a respectable 3-6 pounds, with many in the 10-pound or better category. Permit are quite common and tarpon are available year-round, but June-September provide the best opportunities. English-speaking guides take guests in new Dolphin super skiffs with Yamaha 40-hp outboards. Other species roaming the flats include barracuda, cubera and mangrove snapper, snook, jacks and many other exotics.
This completely renovated facility has added three private cabanas (with three more to be completed by March 1, 2002), each with two queen beds and private deck. The lodge has also redecorated queen-bedded rooms with air conditioning, a large deck extending from the refurbished bar/lounge, restaurant, kitchen and gift shop. There is also a convenient dockside fly/tackle shop. Family-style meals prepared by their Belizian chef add to the appeal of the atoll, just a 2-hour boat trip from Belize City.
Located on scenic Cay Bokel, a private 12-acre island 30 miles off the coast of Belize lies Turneffe Island Lodge.
