The Blackfoot River

| Blackfoot River |
Another fine Western Montana river is the Blackfoot, a river steeped in angling tradition and recently made famous by the movie a "River Runs Through It". Having suffered in the past from mining, logging and over grazing, great strides are being made toward recovery. The Big Blackfoot Trout Unlimited Chapter has worked hard to this end and deserves a big thanks from anglers the world over. Today, the Blackfoot provides good dry fly fishing for rainbows and West Slope cutthroats. It's perfect for novice anglers. Most fish run from small to 16", with the occasional lunker brown (we've taken fish up to 24"). The scenery is outstanding and the water simply a delight to float and fish.
